iMac and the Magic of the Multi-touch Mouse

Mouse

Try saying that fast. OK so as expected there were a number of announcements from Apple today about upgrades to some of their product lines. The news was pretty sure thanks to the usual speculation and leaks in the Apple community but there's one thing I didn't spot and its come as an interesting suprise. Here's a run-down of the additions:
  • iMac - New design (glass to the edge and looks possibly slimmer), larger screens (21.5"/27"), increased capacity and possible quad core chips. Nice
  • MacMini - All round improvement in specs and a new optical drive-less "Server" version with 2x500Gb drives in. Quite interesting also.
  • Macbook 13" - The classic white design has had a bit of a re-touch including getting a slimmer uni-body and a big multi-touch mouse pad like the pro series. Increased specs too and a bottom price of £799. Not bad.
But one of the coolest additions for me at least, not being able to afford ANY more hardware for at least 6 months + is that there is a new mouse with the iMacs, and available on general sale. And I have to say, in my opinion it looks cool as hell.

I've always loved mac mouses, I have the wireless, wonderful but stupidly named mighty mouse at the moment, but this is a whole new idea. Replicating the trackpads on laptops, Apple have made the entire front-top of the mouse a shiney multi-touch surface! So with one touch anywhere you can scroll, move, zoom and more. Sounds nifty. I might just have to have one of those, even if it does look like a very expensive shoe horn.

Anyway. As usual after updates - if you're looking to upgrade your current machine or switching from windows - looks a good time to buy a Mac. And I'd go for the quad core 27" iMac, a snip at only £1,600 :)
